Today, We held English discussion activity "Express Yourself in English !" which is intended to enjoy small talk "Zatsu-Dan" in English, through listening to, talking about and singing a song in English, which lead by Yuko-san, a Jazz singer.
All of you who participated, thank you.
Today's theme song was "You've Got A Friend".
"You've Got a Friend" is a 1971 song written by Carole King. It was first recorded by King, and included in her album Tapestry. Another well-known version is by James Taylor from his album Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon. His was released as a single in 1971 reaching number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. The two versions were recorded simultaneously in 1971 with shared musicians.
"You've Got a Friend" won Grammy Awards both for Taylor (Best Male Pop Vocal Performance) and King (Song of the Year). Dozens of other artists have recorded the song over the years.
The lyric of "You've Got A Friend" is filled with messages "A friend in need is a friend indeed", and it released at the time same as "Bridge over Troubled Water".
The theme of the discussion that Yuko prepared for "You've Got A Friend" was "Friendship".
Through the discussion, the definition of "friend" is depended on a person" , we felt.
What type of people can become a good friend for you ?
Do you have a friend who call out his/her name when you need some helping hands ?
Or, do you have a friend whom you'll go running to see again ?
We thank you all of who shared time pleasant discussions.
The next is September 8.
See YOU Next time !
