Today, We held English discussion activity "Express Yourself in English !", heard, talked about and sang a song in English, which lead by Yuko-san, a Jazz singer.
All of you who participated, thank you.
Today's theme song was "Autumn Leaves".
"Autumn Leaves" is a standard number globally famous as a French chanson.
The French original title "Les Feuilles mortes" .
The lyrics uses many metaphors that assumed a season as background and talk about remembrance to love passing distantly, and never return.
Yuko-san advised us when we sang this song, either the pronunciation of "Autumn" with American style and with British style was OK, but American style was good to express sad feeling.
We were divided into two groups and did group discussion using the questions that Yuko-san prepared for today.
Talking about the question No.2, some answered that "fall" made one feel sad for the reason of day time shortening day by day, and the temperature falling down day by day, and remaining for one year decreasing, and feeling sense of isolation somehow, and wanting to listen to the music that was Melo.
On the other hand, there was the person whom they answered that "fall" did not make one feel sad for the reason of "fall" make one want to go for a picnic, and a lot of delicious food came out.
Talking about the question No.5, The discussion turned into explaining a story of "Romeo and Juliet" finally from the discussion about the metaphor.
This is fun of the free discussion, too!
