Today, We held English discussion activity "Express Yourself in English !", heard, talked about and sang a song in English.

Today's theme song was "Danny Boy".
"Danny Boy" is a ballad which has become the unofficial signature song and anthem of Ireland.
It is very very old song, so very old expression are used in original lyrics.
For exsample, " 'Tis you, 'Tis you " instead of "It's you, It's you", "come ye back" instead of "come you back".
There are various theories for the meaning of "Danny Boy", but no one knows sure the true meaning.
Some of the most common meanings to the lyrics are:
1. A parent sending a son off a war.
2. A parent saying goodbye to a son.
3. A girl saying goodbye to her sweetheart.
4. Young men immigranting and leaving their mother behind in their homeland.
Yuko-san choosed the reaseon number 1, and set 5 questions for pair works.
The questions are:
1. Do you want to become a soldier?
2. What would you say if someone close to you would go to a war?
3. Do you know any country where military service is currently compulsory?
4. What things would you like to send your partner who has been sent to fight in a war?
5. What do you think soldiers away from home miss the most?
After pair works, we talked about the question which set by Yuko-san.
The question is:
"Imagine your loved one had to leave you against his/her will.
But you believe that he/she will come back to you someday.
How long would you wait? Hos do you deal with it?"
