Today was the day for the English discussion activities, "Express Yourself in English !"
Thank you all who joined the activities!
Today' theme was "Healthy life style"...
But, As there was a request for a song lesson by one of the member, Yuko-san changed the topic !
The topic was "Sing 'Moon River' !".
At first, Yuko-san gave us hearing works.
Yuko-san read the words of "Moon River", and we listened those and wrote those down.
After the works, Yuko-san explained the words which we asked the words meening, and taught us pronunciation of "huckleberry".
Then, we tried to sing "Moon River" with accompaning Yuko-san's pianoforte.
And we started discussion about "Moon River".
Yuko-san read a paragraph talking about "Moon River", and we catched what Yuko-san says with no copy of the paragraph !
Then we asked each other using the questions which Yuko-san gave us.
The new information for me about "Moon River" was the meening of "huckleberry friend"!
The word was created by Johnny Mercer, lyrics maker, meening "a friend who play togather in one's childhood".
After learning about and talking about "Moon River", we sang the song once more.
The new style activities by Yuko-san, who works as a Jazz singer, was so fun !
